NEW YEARS - NEW CHALLENGES!!!

Vacation passed and all of us are working again!! New years - new challenges! Every year people make promises to each other and to themselves that they will start to do sports, be more attentive to others, read more books or refuse to eat meat. Every year we do the same. Some of the promises are meant to become true, some of them... Well we are just too lazy to make a change in our lives and start to do something useful. For us, EVS volunteers in Szeged, new years are not only years of promises but of changes too. A lot happened and many changes were made in our organization. So now we have to concentrate on our new tasks and put even more effort in order to reach the goal. What changes? – You may ask. Well, first of all, Kindergartens are over – vege – as Hungarians say. Secondly, Otletfa – the youth center where we spent a lot of time is now open only once per week. The main task there is to keep this center alive. We need to collect more people who would come to the center. I hope we will succeed, cause this place is really necessary for local kids and youngsters. Thirdly, we are starting our new project – LC – English language club. We are willing to collect a bunch of youngsters from schools to teach them some English. We are planning to concentrate on speaking, not writing or grammar, because our goal is to show them that they are able to speak in English, and to make their fears (related to that) disappear.  What is interesting about that – the learning here will be based on non-formal education. We are planning to make a learning friendly atmosphere with a cup of tea, light music for the background and some cookies. Games, activities, movies, books and talking about things they like – interesting and fun way to learn! We are planning to have a similar club for immigrant kids too. Of course, they are younger so we will have to prepare special sessions for them., I mean, something more childish And we will organize more activities to them, Ice skating, prepare for national celebrations, orientation runs ect. And finaly one of our tasks here will be to learn how to write Erasmus+ projects. For that we are cooperating with other similar organization Talentum.
So it seems that this year we are going to be really busy. And we are happy about that :)
